Bloodwork gives us insight into how well specific organs and internal systems are working.
Blood tests are routinely performed in veterinary hospitals for various reasons and in different types of pets. Older pets, newborns, those who have been exposed to toxins, those on long-term medications and those undergoing certain surgeries and procedures may all benefit from a blood test.
Blood tests allow us to gather and assess information about your pet’s health that can only be obtained from a sample of their blood. Blood tests can also be part of your pet’s routine wellness exams. Blood tests can be used to identify certain infections, diseases and other vital information about your pet such as their immune response and hydration.
In-house blood test results are usually generated within 1 to 2 hours. Tests sent to a laboratory take about 2 to 3 business days, but may take longer depending on the kind of test conducted.
The frequency of blood tests depends on case by case basis. Feel free to reach out to our team if you have any concerns about your pet’s health and well-being.
