Kirklin was born & raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She attended Victoria School of the Arts in her teens, where she was involved in many theatre productions, dance troupes, and choirs; this quickly fostered grand aspirations of becoming a professional theatre performer. After enrolling in the University of Alberta with the intention of working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, she had what she fondly calls her “Quarter Life Crisis,” and realized she did not want to pursue the performing arts after all. It was her mother who put forth the idea of Veterinary Medicine, a career path that could combine Kirklin’s love of animals with her keen interest in the Biological Sciences. She switched into the Faculty of Science and enrolled in her first Animal Biology course, and the rest, as they say, is history.
After completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2015, she gained acceptance into the DVM program at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, SK. Since becoming a Veterinarian in 2019, she has practiced throughout Alberta, in Lethbridge, Edmonton & Calgary, and is thrilled to have found her way to the beautiful Rocky Mountains, where she can contribute to enhancing the care available for companion animals throughout the Bow Valley.
In her spare time, Kirklin enjoys spending time in the mountains (fancy that!), traveling, attending live music events, traveling to attend live music events, and tending to her revolving door of foster dogs. In the spring, she has lofty plans to take up mountain biking at the ripe old age of 33. Don’t bother trying to talk her out of it. 😉
